Be Awesome in Your Body

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer affects us all in one way or another.

A little over a year ago, one of my best friends and roommate from college went for her first ever mammogram only to find out after two more scans and a biopsy later that she had stage 3 invasive ductile breast cancer.

To say the news was devastating would be an understatement.

The reality of her new normal set in via the endless meetings with doctors and specialists. Her calendar was getting filled with treatments and appointments, rather than work and social items.

Luckily, she had a strong support system between her family, friends and the breast cancer clinic in her state of Rhode Island.

Yet even with the support, a journey like this one is solo in nature. Still, my friend looked cancer in the eye and did not blink. Every day she chose to Be Awesome in Her Body by fighting her cancer through treatments, rest and doing what she needed to in order to heal.

Now, a year later, she is cancer free and posts amazing things like this on her Instagram:

"Last year at this time I was glued to the couch following round 5 of chemo. One year later, Post 5k and managed to run faster than I expected (8:54 pace!) Must have been that sea of pink moving me along the streets of PVD."

Yup... she ran a 5k to benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting those newly diagnosed, survivors and those who lost a loved one to this terrible disease, with understanding, information and resources.

And because of my friends inspiring journey, Consistent Wellness is launching their own campaign to benefit this amazing organization as well!

I have special temporary tattoos of my logo that you saw at the top of this page that I am selling for $3.00 each from now until November 3rd, the proceeds of which will go to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.

Once you receive your tattoo(s), put it on anywhere (that is obviously appropriate), have your photo taken with it on and send it back to me at amanda@beawesomebody.com with your story of how you choose to Be Awesome in Your Body in spite of this hateful disease.

With your written permission in that same email, your story will be posted on my blog and shared on social media as a means to love, support and inspire the world... YES, the WORLD!

Simply click on the button below to get your tattoos!

In closing, I want to stress the most important part of this entire month... GET SCREENED. My friend had no palpable lump. It was the mammogram that saved her life.

Thank you for being part of this campaign of AWESOME!
